What is it?
The Daily Cure for me is trying to smell taste touch—really experience— something, each day, that reminds me that I'm alive and, mostly, happy to be here. A small moment that should go a long way, at least in theory.-

Color Story #8 : The Colors of Wet
It’s been raining here in Burgundy. And raining and raining. Presque sans cesse. But I have finally learned—all those years in Oregon helped—that when a day looks too “ugly” to venture out into, it is exactly time to do just … Continue reading

Last day of the year. Pensive. Warm. Still.
This post could easily have been “Color Story: Neutral” but that wouldn’t have said anything about the way it all feels. It almost feels “lazy” but that isn’t the right word at all. Not in this Life, anyway, in which … Continue reading

Transitions/Color Story #8: A baguette travels to Italy
This wasn’t initially written as a poem (I’m not a poet) but it really wanted to look like one, so I obliged. Every time we say we’re going to travel light. And every time it’s like moving a circus complete … Continue reading

Milan color story #7: Metro-palette
I was scheduled to meet a friend last week at the Lanza Metro. We hadn’t seen each other in months and were long overdue for a cappuccino. I was early. So I parked myself above the steps leading out of … Continue reading

Day 7: Textures and patterns
Between sea, sand and cloud, are the things made by man. Fishnets and roof tiles, shopping baskets and hats. And somehow, here at the French seaside, they all blend into a harmonious tapestry. In the realm of the manmade, the … Continue reading

Day 2: Shutters
A walk around Cap Ferret is a tour through color, all of it showing off like a group of giddy starlets against a beautifully dull backdrop of sand, weathered wood, and the ebbing and flowing tide. Factor in a frequently … Continue reading
Milan color story #6: Heat wave yellow
I didn’t blog yesterday. Couldn’t. The Southerner in me dictated inactivity. It was just too damn hot. You could have fried one of those goose eggs I wrote about on the sidewalk. Or on your car hood. Or on your … Continue reading
Milan color story #5: Tutti-frutti
Hello all! I’ve categorized this “What we wear” as well as “Milan color story.” Both are leggermente misleading, because I’m not wearing these colors myself, at the moment, nor are these colors native to the city. But they certainly are … Continue reading

Lugano color story #1: Black and cream
Today, a story from the archives. Rewind to that March day-trip to Lugano. Under undecided skies, the lakeside city (or is it a town?) of Lugano revealed its true duo-toned heart to me. After having taken several photographs, I realized … Continue reading

Milan color story #4: Green
Milan, that great Gray Lady, has not filled her wardrobe with greens, but the color has, like a tenacious weed, crept into the cracks of her closet providing life and vibrance when weather permits. Which is to say, that much … Continue reading
