The taste of yellow
DAY: Thursday, even though I woke up feeling—think Bill Murray in Ground Hog’s Day—that it was Wednesday all over again and that it would be kinda nice if it were, in fact, Saturday. MORNING MEDITATION: 10 minutes. Went pretty well today. I’m new at … Continue reading

To love. To red. A color story.
Today is one of the great clichés. And as with most clichés, there’s a reason for its existence. We do love and we love passionately. And without love we would be nothing. But our love isn’t wrapped up in hearts … Continue reading

Color Story #16: Winter warmth
Cold has come. And as we all sort of thought it might, it came hard. We were so lulled into the warmth, so used to it, that when the cold came it took us, sillies that we are, by surprised. … Continue reading

The importance of lavender
My first post here was entitled “The importance of blue.” That was August 8, 2010. Nearly 5 years have gone by, and in those 5 years, so much has happened, hasn’t it? For you, I hope they’ve been 5 amazing years … Continue reading

Color story #13: The blue of blue
(Yes, Linda! Spring, blessedly, is coming!) “The other day, my daughter asked me what my favorite color was, and I irritated her the way I sometimes do by answering this question with one of my own: “To look at, or … Continue reading
Color Story #12: Brown is the new black
Well, I don’t know about you, but for us it’s been “one of those summers.” Long, beautiful, hot, (at times) stormy and punctuated by curveballs. There’s been a lot to take care of, tend to, fix, arrange…a lot of emotions … Continue reading

Color Story #11: Winter Citrus & Cedro-Love
Winter is singing its swan song. Two days ago, we all said, “Spring is in the air.” Today, we are in the midst of our last snowstorm of the season. Despite its fearsome chill, it isn’t going to have the … Continue reading
Color Story #9: Edible Winter Roses
It’s been snowing today. So the sky and the general palette of the day are overwhelmed by whiteness (read: cold). And yet. And yet. When I walked into the vegetable vendor’s this morning, I was pleasantly ambushed by the persistent … Continue reading
