What is it?
The Daily Cure for me is trying to smell taste touch—really experience— something, each day, that reminds me that I'm alive and, mostly, happy to be here. A small moment that should go a long way, at least in theory.-

Springing lightly into Spring
Hello all. Haven’t blogged in forever. Life’s been busy and not in the kind of way you want to blog about. But Spring is here and along with it, enough of all that! Light, color, and, yes, a bit of … Continue reading
The Smile
I haven’t been here in a long time, and I’ve really missed it. I’ve missed you all! I’ve been in a vortex – tunnel – tidal wave – whatever you wanna call it of selling, buying and moving houses. And … Continue reading
A late Valentine, Italian-style
Heart-day was an infinite five days ago, but still it’s on my mind. Rummaging through my file today, I discovered some pictures I’d been saving to post on the occasion, but had somehow neglected to follow-through on. Must have been … Continue reading

Cardboard world
It was love at first sight. A beguiling little store tucked into a corner of Como called Gloook where most everything is made from recycled cardboard. (Gloook is just one brand of a small design firm, Alpac.) These furnishings are … Continue reading
Camparisoda: The aperitif of fast, futurist art

My Primo love
The list of adult books I would read over and over (and over) again is not long. It includes Iris Murdoch’s The Sea, The Sea. Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse. And The Worst Intentions by Alessandro Piperno. But the most … Continue reading

“The Random-at-Best Non-Remedy”
I’m back. Again. It’s getting silly, isn’t it? I say I’m coming back, I stick around for a while, then I disappear again. What’s up with that? Well, I’ll tell you, my friends. In a nutshell, the problem is Time, … Continue reading

The more things change…
Last week at the vide-grenier of Nitry, I was immediately attracted by these four issues (dating from 1949-1950) of “Rustica: Journal universel de la campagne,” a magazine devoted, as the title suggests, to country living. I thought I was buying … Continue reading

New-ish and hopefully improved-ish
A quick administrative note to alert you to some small changes at “The Daily {French-Italian} Cure.” First, the links which have disappeared from the sidebar have been placed on a “Links of Interest” page which is still under construction. You … Continue reading
