Transitions: Follow the yellow brick road
We went to France for Easter, to follow the work on our barn renovation and for me to try and finish my book. Progress was made on both fronts, but completion was a fleeting objective. Days were full with the … Continue reading
Closed for Easter and for writing
Dear Friends, I’m closing “The Daily {French-Italian} Cure” for seven days of Easter holiday a.k.a. “Trying to Finish Writing My Book While in France.” That sounds terribly smug and pompous for a zillion reasons—not to mention cliché—and I apologize. It’s … Continue reading

Espadrille me, baby
This post could be categorized, “What we wear / France.” Or, “What we wear / Spain,” if I were writing about Spain. But it is, at the moment, what we are wearing in Milan: Espadrilles. I’ve been wearing them for … Continue reading
The send-off
The French countryside this past week surprised us with warm-ish weather, bright sunshine, and an enthusiastic soundtrack. The birds sang with all their might. At 4:00 every morning, it was the birds that woke us up. Before the sun. Before … Continue reading

Past-present perfume
How do you categorize a post that belongs to the world of today, yesterday, scent, memory and the obliteration of geographical borders and time zones? What title do you give a subject that is big enough to fill your imagination … Continue reading

Postcard #6: Merry-sur-Yonne
[Yesterday. Overcast. Beautiful. Autumn colors as intense as a drug addict’s dream. We went for a walk while Roberto fished. Me and the girls and the dog. And there again, that feeling of peace—even if fleeting—and so much gratitude.]
