What is it?
The Daily Cure for me is trying to smell taste touch—really experience— something, each day, that reminds me that I'm alive and, mostly, happy to be here. A small moment that should go a long way, at least in theory.-

Color Story #12: Brown is the new black
Well, I don’t know about you, but for us it’s been “one of those summers.” Long, beautiful, hot, (at times) stormy and punctuated by curveballs. There’s been a lot to take care of, tend to, fix, arrange…a lot of emotions … Continue reading

Lying fallow
I love old words. Or words you just hear in a certain context. Here’s one: Fallow. Isn’t that a pretty word? Walking behind our house when we got here, I realized that the field which is almost always planted in … Continue reading
Once upon a time a plum tree
Once upon a time there was a plum tree. She was old. No one knew exactly how many rings she had, and she wasn’t telling. She watched a family grow—one generation following the next. She watched grandchildren come and cultures … Continue reading
The Castle Cats and Memories of Delia
Last week, while taking my walk, I decided to zoom around inside the Castello Sforzesco to see what was up. I often go through it, imagining what court life must have been like confined, as it was, so rigidly to … Continue reading

I saw the film “I Am Love” when it came out in 2009. And though I appreciated—dare I say “loved”—the visual style of it, the movie itself left me a little cold. And yet…and yet…there was something about it that … Continue reading
Politics in tatters
Yesterday and the day before, Italians were at the polls—that is, who deigned to venture there. We tend to think that it’s one’s duty to participate in democracy by voting, but what if, really, there is nothing to vote for? … Continue reading
Color Story #11: Winter Citrus & Cedro-Love
Winter is singing its swan song. Two days ago, we all said, “Spring is in the air.” Today, we are in the midst of our last snowstorm of the season. Despite its fearsome chill, it isn’t going to have the … Continue reading
Urban Pattern #3: From Milan to Africa to Miami
I’ve been walking a lot lately. Just to get the physical and mental kinks out. There are a lot of them to unravel, believe me. But as long as there’s stuff to look at, I’m happily drugged into a state … Continue reading
